Why, oh why? tun was correct, and after seeing things slowly leaking out to the public in the BBox about the situation, I figure it is best to have an entirely official announcement about the truth to prevent any mixups.
Several months ago, Valentines Day to be exact, my apartment building burnt down and I was forced into a relocation. Considering the only apartments they had available at that time were $1,400 (roughly) per month, and we (my wife and kids) were homeless, we accepted and moved in. We later negotiated the reduction of rent to $1,000/mo.
Seeing the rent issue, I accepted a deal which would give me and Legi' each $125 (later increased to $150) out of Baka-Wolf.com donations to cover a $200/mo increase in a bill that we simply couldn't cover. We'd again be homeless. It has enabled me to cover this increase, and know that at least that bill is handled and the rest can be dealt with as they come.
However, the staff of m.3.3.w was never notified of such situation officially (despite the "Support Silence" signature and of course the understanding of the beer fund), some staff members knew, as well as donors. When I was asked, I was entirely honest, and admitted that yes, I was accepting a minor amount of money, and justified it for the sake of my family.
I was never accepting the money for personal enjoyment, but simply to survive, more so for my family, my children to survive. I have no TV, I don't buy DVD's, music CD's, games or new consoles, I don't buy books, I don't buy anything for myself to enjoy in life, and all I have is my family and the internet.
I use the internet, at times 16 hours a day or more dedicated towards Baka-Wolf.com, doing some sort of random job for the site or another. Doing what I am supposed to do, and in my mind, I was earning the money. At the very least, I wanted to dedicate myself to try and earn it.
m.3.3.w, rightfully so, feels that fansubbing isn't about money. It is about the anime, as do I. They have decided to break off of Baka-Wolf.com's joint venture because I violated this rule, despite the means. tun is correct in saying "it isn't our problem" because it isn't. The fact is, what I did was bad. Even if it was to help out for such reasons, there is nothing that can justify it.
Just because some random guy happens to be poor, does that give him the right to go and rob an old lady and take her money? He might have kids and a wife at home, and he might only get $150 in her purse, but does that give him the right? No. And my excuse doesn't give me the right to do what I did.
The fact is, I failed. I failed as a leader of the community, a friend to the m.3.3.w staff, and as a father and husband. While the popular opinion among donors whom have access to a poll to vote for four options, the vast majority, virtually everyone who has voted has supported and not entirely approved of, but has accepted and fully understands what I have done.
I'd like to thank them for their understanding, and hope that the community will also forgive me for my failure. And I am sincerely sorry and have done everything I've felt is 100% correct and honest to rectify this situation for both the site, community and the fansubbing half of Baka-Wolf.com..
As you may have noticed, the monthly donation goal has been severely reduced from $1,500/mo to $900/mo. Let me explain why this is..
Originally, the $1,500 a month was meant to cover the added cost of a new $200 server, Alicia. This server was dedicated towards super seeding, torrenting, and raw collecting. We had plans to also use it as a bot server, and possibly toss on a tracker to boot considering the server was indeed nice.
You're probably scratching your head doing the math, trying to find out where that missing $100 is. Should've been moved to $1,600/mo, right? No. I was intending to cut into the amount we were getting to resolve the situation. Not all, but at least try and reduce the amount to $100/each.
Now that Alicia is dropped, we still need to cut costs. We're going to drop the Haruhi (webserver) and move to a cheaper server to drive down costs more. Plus, if you remove the money I was accepting on the side, we've cut things down to $900.
I'm going to continue to research and hopefully locate a cheaper group of servers to once again drive down costs. We were entertaining the idea of $600/mo, which would mean we'd drop public DDL, but that idea just isn't logical or ethical. So, while we maintain the public DDL, costs will be stuck at $900/Mo. until we relocate to a cheaper server for public DDL.
I apologize greatly for this, and I fully understand if you hate me, disapprove of me, etc. It isn't Baka-Wolf.com's fault, it is mine and I am accepting full blame for this. Please don't look negatively on the community or the site, or other staff members, and only those who asked me ever knew the full truth about this situation.
We're going to continue to try and resolve this as much as we possibly can.

Just to summarize it up.. I guess Silence wasn't suppose to take de money from de donations given to baka-wolf.. I'm nt exactly sure what he did wrong but it seemed quite serious to alotta ppl.. this happened quite a few weeks ago i think lol.. but i just found out about it today while just browsing around the forum.. But seriously man.. can't they just pity him or at least understand this situation and help him out?
haiz this really made me realize dat fansubbers n website admins really take de time n money n risk to sub anime for us anime freaks.. So we seriously must thank them for their hard work n time..Not many ppl would do dis 4 us.. After all.. we get these anime for free. dis is de least we cud do for them..so yea.. Thank them b4 they suddeny think it's nt worth it..
Hope Silence comes back.. Well most of de ppl in baka-wolf does.. heh. so yea.. ciao.
